OUR STORY
My name is Mandy Gatimu, the proud owner and creator of Lilly Pilly. First and foremost, I'm a mum to two incredible daughters who light up my world every day. Our family is a beautiful blend of Australian and Kenyan cultures.
Having been born and raised in Sydney, Australia, I can confidently say that it's one of the most breathtaking cities in the world. Sydney's allure lies not only in its bustling cosmopolitan vibe but also in the stunning natural beauty that surrounds it. The iconic Sydney Harbor, with its majestic bridge and famous Opera House, is a sight that never fails to impress.
OUR ROOTS
Fate led me to meet my Kenyan husband while living in Sydney. Together, we embarked on a remarkable adventure, leading us to spend seven unforgettable years in Nairobi, Kenya, where both of our girls were born. In 2009, tragedy struck our family with the untimely loss of my husband, who was the center of our world. The girls and I had to return to Australia, but Kenya still and will always hold a special place in our hearts. It's where our roots run deep and where we continue to cherish many wonderful memories.
BLESSINGS
Now, we call the United States home, and I count my blessings every day for the opportunity to nurture our daughters into strong, compassionate, and independent young women. Our love for traveling and our nomadic lifestyle has gifted us with invaluable worldly experiences and a profound appreciation for the diversity of cultures.
FRAGRANCE
I've always loved burning candles at home for the fragrance and ambiance they create. After many years of intermittent headaches, I realized that my headaches were coming from the candles I was burning. Glasshouse candles were my favorite, and I was quite shocked to find out how toxic they were. This realization led me to start researching the ingredients used in Glasshouse Candles and less harmful options. I delved deeply into the art of candle making, determined to find materials that embody luxury with a focus on health and environmental consciousness. After thorough exploration and months of testing, I settled on Coconut and Olive Oil waxes.

I've harbored a dream of starting my own business—one that allows me to channel my creativity while still prioritizing a balanced life between work and home. With my girls growing older, I felt that now was the perfect moment to seize the opportunity and embark on this exciting new adventure. It's a journey filled with learning, excitement, challenges, and endless possibilities.
I want to offer something a little different, something that reflects the beauty and diversity of our life experiences. My house has smelt amazing ever since I started this journey! I am currently working on home fragrances, sprays, and carpet deodorizers that will complement the existing candle scents as well as some new ones!
